Sometimes I don’t think I do a great job of actually taking you on this journey with us. I am working on doing a better job of capturing the things we do and the sites we see on a more regular basis. (I’m not going to lie, part of this is because I think maybe you care, and part of it is to preserve my experiences more permanently in case I’m ever to lose my laptop again.)
So in that spirit, I’m excited to share some photo highlights of our time in Shanghai, China. I hope you enjoy!
Old City Shanghai at night will take you back in time and make you fall in love with China.
Old Town Shanghai is a bustling part of the city filled with street food vendors, shops and restaurants.
Old City in the day is about as lively as Shanghai gets.
Longhua Temple is an active Buddhist temple where you will find people in the midst of prayer throughout the day. It was nice to observe their passion, but it did feel a bit intrusive.

Bubble tea at Happy Lemon was one of my favorite stops! Another one of our point-and-hope ordering experiences!
Seriously though – like, how can you not fall in love with Shanghai?!
Daytime Skyline of Shanghai
We think we’d probably rate Shanghai as our second favorite skyline we’ve ever seen (second only to Chicago, of course!)
Shanghai Tower is the second tallest building in the world, and the tallest building if you’re measuring to highest usable floor and also the highest observatory.
The View from the 188th floor of Shanghai Tower
The view of the 10th tallest building in the world from the 2nd tallest building in the world.

One of my favorite Starbucks of our whole trip has been the Starbucks Reserve Bar in the French Concession neighborhood of Shanghai. Howard Schultz himself was here and signed the wall, and I thought it was pretty darn cool.
Nanjing Road is the pedestrian street through the main shopping strip of Shanghai. It is bright and crowded and loud and magical.
Yu Garden is right in the heart of Shanghai and a magical step back in time.
My favorite view in all of Yu Garden.
Yu Garden in Shanghai is an ancient Chinese Garden in the center of a crazy huge city. It was one of my favorite things about Shanghai.
