Recap: Six Months of Traveling the World

It’s hard to believe that we’ve been on the road for six months now. I knew this day would come faster than I expected, but it somehow managed to get here even faster than I could have possibly imagined. It’s been an incredible journey so far.

We’ve stayed in 12-bed hostels and Club Level at the Ritz Carlton. We’ve given directions on public transit we just learned and we’ve gotten lost on pretty much every hike we’ve taken (including our hike to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai and our hike in Cocora Valley near Medellin). We’ve had people compliment our pronunciation of “thank you” in different languages, and we’ve had people not understand us at all. We’ve run marathons and up mountains, but complained about walking uphill to our Airbnb. We’ve spent all night trying to find the cheapest beers in Paris’ Latin Quarter only to bar crawl through Disneyland Paris the very next day and spend $30 on a cocktail.

We partied at Oktoberfest in Munich, went on a coffee farm tour in Colombia and ate bibimbop in Seoul. We celebrated Thanksgiving at an Irish pub in Hong Kong and ate street Pad Thai for Christmas dinner in Chiang Mai. We’ve been shown endless amounts of kindness and patience from locals and made friends with fellow travelers from all over the world.

The end of the year is a time for reflection, and we’ve enjoyed looking back on our first six months of traveling the world. We’ve put together a summary of some of our favorite and most memorable experiences on our trip so far.

We’d like to thank you all for joining us on this journey! This blog has served as an excellent way to keep keep in touch with old friends and make new ones. If you ever have questions or comments about travel, travel planning, or anywhere we’ve been, please feel free to reach out. We’d love to hear from you!

City Rankings (of this trip)

This was so hard! Every city had something different to offer. I think if you asked me on five different days, you’d get five different answers. But for now, here are my answers as of today. Click on each city (except Oslo) to read more about our experiences there.
